What should I expect when I visit?

Our goal here at Friends is to help make a big place small. No doubt Friends Church is a big place and continues to grow. Yet many people have discovered what it means to become part of a spiritual family as they connect with God and one another. At Friends, we are both big and small—big enough to provide a variety of opportunities that meet a number of needs, yet small enough so people can get to know one another and develop friendships as we grow in our relationship with God, each other, and our community. Our vision at Friends is to meet the needs of children, youth, and adults in two primary ways: To share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the thousands of residents in Battle Creek, Marshall and the surrounding areas. To meet the needs of Christians by providing a place for growth, challenge and fellowship. Weekend services feature messages that are biblically-based, relevant, and life-application- oriented. We believe that solid teaching and heartfelt worship are key ingredients to Christian community. Our praise band performs contemporary, uplifting music and is led by a team of talented vocalists and musicians. Click here for an MP3 Sampler. When you walk onto the Friends campus, you'll find a friendly, accepting atmosphere that will feel like home. In fact, if you're the kind of person who doesn't normally like church, you'll love Friends! Visit us at services this weekend: Sunday at 9:15 or 10:45 am.

What does Friends have for my family?

During the week, small groups meet together in homes for Bible study, caring and sharing. We find life-change happens most often in this setting. We have a major commitment to children and youth, as well as adults of all ages. If you are looking for a church that is exciting, alive, Biblical, and relevant, we would love to have you join our church family! Friends is made up of people from the community just like you. And all year long, we're committed to helping you grow deeper ... in your walk with Christ, in your marriage, and in all your relationships.

How does Friends care for our community?

The letter of James in the Bible sums it best: What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. Friends has bought beds, medicine, helped with bills, found transportation, and provided child care for people in our community. Sometimes we know the people we help ... other times we do not. But that doesn't matter. What matters is putting our faith into action by caring for and helping our community.

How can I get involved?

Don't hold back, waiting for the perfect opportunity to step into the life of the church. Just jump in! Experience shows that the quicker you jump in, the quicker you will feel comfortable in the life of the church. Friends has many ways to get involved in ministry, from kids clubs and worship arts, to Habitat for Humanity, Haven of Rest and City LinC to name a few ...

Newcomer Options
Information Center & Cafe: Both are located in the atrium outside the Worship Center. The Information Center is a comfortable place to interact with members of the staff and church leaders before and after services. It's also the place to pick up key information about the church.
Finding Out About Friends: This informal gather provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about who we are and where we are going as a church and a denomination. Finding out about Friends meets three times a year during the fall, winter, and spring. Give the church office a call and reserve your spot today.

How did Friends get started?

Battle Creek Friends is a multigenerational church with a history of caring for our community. Founded in the 1930’s when a small group of men and women asked the question, "What can we do to reach our city and neighbors?", Battle Creek Friends continues in that tradition. While our community and methods have grown and changed, our vision remains the same—to experience God and care for our community.

Our Future
Over the years, Battle Creek Friends has grown in faith, spirit and size. Currently we are a church of roughly 600 with an average attendance of 400 on a typical Sunday morning. Building on our past, we are excited about the future—as people connecting with God work together to care for our friends, family, and co-workers and in doing so live, out the love of Jesus.

Battle Creek Friends Church is a member of the Evangelical Friends Church Eastern Region (EFCER). The EFCER is a fellowship of over 100 churches across the eastern United States, committed to the historic essentials of biblical Christianity. Click here to check out the EFCERA web site.
